Your family questions, answered simply

Here are the questions our clients ask most often, to help you understand your rights and options.

I am living abroad. Can I file for divorce in India without travelling there?
In most cases, yes. Most family matters, including divorce, maintenance or custody, can be started and managed through a legally drafted Power of Attorney. You usually do not need to travel unless the court specifically asks to see you at a certain stage. We handle the groundwork so you can stay where you are.
I have a foreign divorce judgment. Do I need to get it recognised in India?
In many cases, yes. A divorce granted abroad is not always automatically valid in India. We review your decree against Indian legal principles and help you seek official validation, which avoids future disputes over property, family rights or remarriage.
How are child custody and visitation rights handled for NRIs?
Indian courts focus on the best interest of the child, including safety, schooling and emotional wellbeing. We help you seek custody or shared parenting rights, and handle travel permissions, so your relationship with your child is protected wherever you live.
My spouse has filed false cases against me. What should I do first?
We are here to protect you. If you face false allegations, we take immediate steps such as applying for protection from arrest or seeking cancellation of the case. You do not need to rush back to India; we manage the defence and police coordination for you.
We both want a mutual consent divorce. How does that work?
A mutual consent divorce is the fastest and most respectful route. We prepare the papers and coordinate the hearing dates. In many cases you might need only one visit to India, and some courts allow you to appear by video, making it simpler for everyone.
